Hey there, how was your weekend?
Since I started posting content regularly, five different colleagues have reached out wanting to do the same thing.
Each time, I’d get on a call, walk them through everything. My journey, the experiments, what flopped, what stuck. No filter. Full picture.
None of them have started.
The funny part is, none of them needed more information. They had everything. The gap wasn’t knowledge. It was that first uncomfortable step.
Which is also the whole reason I started this newsletter.
You don’t fail because you don’t know what to do. You fail because you know exactly what to do and still find a reason to wait.
My first newsletter went out from a personal Gmail account. First video was shot on a laptop webcam with the room lights on. There was no setup. No plan. Just sending the thing.
If there’s something you’ve been sitting on, this is the only nudge I’ll give you: start ugly.
Now, the thing I’ve been holding back for weeks.
🥁
I’m writing a book.
Not a passion project, not a side idea. An actual co-authored marketing textbook that will be used in MBA programs.
Three of us are working on it: a veteran professor with a PhD, and two of us from the corporate world. The whole premise is simple but something I genuinely wish had existed earlier in my career: closing the gap between what gets taught in classrooms and what actually happens on the job.
A guide someone can keep close when they step into their first marketing role and have no idea where to start. I remember being asked for a content strategy in my first week. I had never built one. I figured it out, but it wasn’t pretty.
We’re turning all of that into something useful.
I’m contributing five chapters. Three are done.
Being a complete beginner at something again is strange and kind of great. More details soon.
See you next week 🙂
