Hey friend, how was your week?
This week was one of those reflection-heavy ones.
I keep coming back to the same questions and playing devil’s advocate with myself — somehow the answers keep changing every time.
1. Why is it so hard to believe your own progress?
No matter what I achieve, there’s always a part of me that says — maybe it was luck, maybe right place, right time.
So I went down a rabbit hole on beliefs.
There’s a line I read recently:
If someone holds your close friend at gunpoint and asks you to believe he is God, you’d just lie to survive. You wouldn’t actually change your belief.
Even in extreme situations, beliefs don’t change easily.
Think about it — most people haven’t seen God, but they still believe. On the other hand, there are people who’ve seen images of Earth from space and still believe it’s flat.
So what drives belief?
At first, it’s borrowed credibility — from people or sources you trust. But real belief only settles in when you experience something yourself.
Which brings me back to self-doubt.
Affirmations don’t fix it.
Journaling “I am the best” doesn’t fix it.
Even someone close telling you that you’re great doesn’t fix it.
The only thing that works?
Doing the work and getting validated by reality.
Unbiased feedback. Real outcomes. Repeated enough times that your brain has no choice but to accept it.
That’s when belief shifts.
2. The generalist vs specialist dilemma
I often use this prompt with AI:
“Based on everything you know about me, tell me something I might not be seeing about myself.”
The responses vary — some blunt, some useful.
This time it said I might be spreading myself too thin.
Which, to be fair, isn’t wrong.
Full-time role. Running a firm. Daily content. Writing a book. Living abroad. Life outside work.
The obvious advice is to focus on one thing and go deep.
And yes, that probably leads to better outcomes.
But then I asked myself — what do I actually want?
There’s always an optimal way to do things.
And then there’s the way you enjoy doing things.
If the process itself gives you energy, is it really wrong?
I don’t have a clean answer yet. Let’s park this — I’ll probably revisit it again.
From the execution side
We onboarded two new clients at Dino Digital last week. (that’s the company I run)
We’re now closer to our MRR goal than ever.
A small insight — about 80% of the effort to close these deals happened over the weekend. If you’re trying to build something on the side, weekends are underrated leverage.
Also, one of these deals took 6+ follow-ups. At one point, we were almost convinced it was gone.
Until it wasn’t.
Persistence compounds quietly.
See you next week 🙂
